Pekat Group Berhad (“Pekat”) is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Nilai. On 30 October 2026, its indirect 60%-owned subsidiary, EPE Switchgear (M) Sdn Bhd (“EPE Switchgear”), signed six sale and purchase agreements with Sime Darby Property (Nilai) Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Property Berhad, to acquire six adjoining freehold industrial plots for RM30.58 million.
About the land
Together, the plots cover 38,108 square metres within the Bandar Hamilton Nilai – Plot 5 industrial development, and are designated for industrial use.
Why Nilai, and why now
EPE Switchgear’s current premises in Nilai are running out of room for its planned growth. The new site gives Pekat the space to bring several of its businesses under one roof:
- EPE Switchgear’s existing switchgear manufacturing operations
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) business
- Transformer business
- Substation business
The purchase also gives Pekat long-term security of tenure over its operations, a solid base to build on as it scales up.
What happens next
The purchase will be funded through internally generated funds and bank borrowings. Vacant possession is expected within 48 months from the date of the agreements, and the acquisition will be completed at that point.
