Pekat Group Berhad today announced that it has secured two new contracts for the supply and installation of earthing and lightning protection systems for data centre developments, with a combined value of approximately RM46.94 million.
The projects span two of Malaysia’s key data centre corridors. In Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Pekat will undertake earthing and lightning protection works for a hyperscale data centre under a RM19.73 million award, with completion targeted by 30 June 2027. Separately, in Johor, the Group has secured a RM27.21 million award for similar works at a second data centre, with completion scheduled for 19 September 2027.
Both contracts underscore the Group’s growing role in supporting Malaysia’s expanding data centre industry, which continues to see strong investment as the country positions itself as a regional hub for digital infrastructure and cloud services.
“We are pleased to have been entrusted with these two significant projects,” said Tai Yee Chee, Pekat Group CEO. “Earthing and lightning protection systems are critical safety infrastructure for data centres, given the high-value equipment and continuous uptime requirements involved. These contract wins reflect the trust our clients place in our technical expertise and track record of delivery, and they further strengthen our order book in the data centre segment.”
The Group said the acceptance of these contracts is expected to contribute positively to its earnings for the current financial year, subject to the progress of works and normal project execution risks.
Pekat has been actively expanding its presence in the data centre supply chain, leveraging its expertise in power protection and power generation to capture opportunities arising from the rapid growth of data centres in the region.
The Group remains focused on securing further contracts within this space as demand for robust, reliable data centre infrastructure continues to rise.
